A porn blocker restricts access. An accountability app shares selected activity with someone you choose. A nofap tracker records progress you enter yourself. Choose according to the gap in your current setup: easy access, a need for agreed support, or difficulty noticing patterns.
These jobs can overlap. Some accountability products also block websites, and a tracker can sit alongside either tool. Installing all three is not automatically a better plan.
Disclosure: Nafs is our app. This comparison uses official documentation checked on September 24, 2026. We did not independently test the other tools, and these examples are not a ranking of recovery outcomes. Prices and features can change.
The difference at a glance
| Tool type | Main job | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Porn blocker | Restrict selected websites or apps | Which browsers and networks it covers, and who can change the settings |
| Accountability app | Share agreed activity with a trusted person | What gets captured, who sees it, and how you will discuss it |
| Nofap or habit tracker | Record days, notes or helpful actions | Whether recording is useful to you, and where your information is stored |
For a Muslim trying to quit porn, a further question matters: what will you do when you put the phone down? You may want a tool that supports Quran, dhikr, dua or salah alongside your phone boundaries. That is where Nafs’s app blocking and worship features fit.
Porn blocking: CleanBrowsing Family Filter
CleanBrowsing’s free Family Filter is a DNS service: it filters requests for website domains. Its preset targets adult and mixed-content domains and enforces supported SafeSearch settings. The free filter requires no account. See the official filter descriptions.
You can configure it on a router or individual Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android devices. A setting on your home router does not protect a phone after it switches to mobile data; follow the setup instructions for the devices and networks you use.
Its limit is the domain level. It cannot distinguish an explicit post from a harmless post on the same allowed site. Another DNS resolver or a VPN can bypass this layer, so check the provider’s coverage limitations and bypass guidance.
Privacy and sharing: DNS requests pass through the provider. Its free-service policy says it does not retain identifiable DNS logs linking requests to a person, while it processes anonymized aggregate queries. The free service has no customer activity dashboard or partner report. Read the privacy policy and free-versus-paid distinction.
Accountability: Covenant Eyes and Victory
Covenant Eyes combines filtering with accountability. Victory Shield captures and rates screenshots on supported devices, and a chosen ally can review selected blurred screenshots and activity. This is a different commitment from blocking access: someone needs to be willing to review the information and have a useful conversation. See how monitoring works.
The product supports iOS, Android, Mac and Windows, but coverage differs. On iPhone, screenshot monitoring is limited to Safari; other browsers use domain monitoring. Check the platform details and private-browsing limitations before subscribing.
Cost: the website subscription is listed at US$18 per month or US$198 per year. In-app subscriptions have different prices, and taxes or local checkout can change the amount. Verify the current pricing and purchase channel.
Privacy and sharing: the provider receives blurred screenshots and associated data. Blurring does not guarantee that all text is unreadable. Agree in advance on who receives reports, what they can see, and how to handle sensitive activity unrelated to porn. Review the privacy policy together. Accountability should be an arrangement the adult using it understands and chooses.
Nofap tracking: Iron Will Lite
Iron Will Lite: Quit addiction, by Emerald Isle Studio, is an Android example of a self-recorded streak tracker. Its listing describes elapsed time, reset notes, history and a widget. It is free and contains ads. We have not verified an iPhone version from this developer; similarly named apps may be different products. See the specific Google Play listing.
A counter can record a goal you set. It does not independently verify behavior, block websites or establish recovery. The reviewed listing does not document automatic reports to an accountability partner.
Privacy: its developer policy says saved records stay locally, but third-party services may collect identifiers and error logs containing device or IP details. Do not read “local records” as a guarantee of no data collection. Check the developer-linked privacy policy.
If counting days is not useful to you, record the boundary you practised and the next action you want to try. Our PMO guide includes a free weekly worksheet and nofap FAQs. You can use it without installing a tracker or creating an account.
Muslim app boundaries and worship: Nafs
Nafs combines selected-app blocking with Quran, dhikr, dua and salah habits. It is free to download with optional in-app purchases; check the price shown in your app before buying.
Android: Guard checks known adult domains in supported browsers after Accessibility setup. It is not a network-wide DNS or VPN filter. iPhone: Nafs supports selected-app blocking and Apple’s adult-content filtering for Safari and in-app WebKit on iOS 16 or later, with the required Screen Time access. Check coverage on your phone and use extra filtering for uncovered routes. See the platform-specific features and setup.
Nafs is not presented here as a screenshot-reporting accountability service or a dedicated nofap counter. Its privacy policy covers accounts, cloud services, usage and worship data, analytics and attribution. Family features are paused for now and coming back later. Existing family users may still share information such as display name, weekly worship hours and family chat; that does not mean relatives receive a porn-browsing report.
Choose your next step
- “I can reach the sites too easily.” Start with restrictions that cover your actual device, browser and networks. Use the layered porn-blocking setup guide and test the filter safely.
- “I want someone involved.” Choose a trusted person, agree on boundaries, then decide whether software reports would help. You can also ask for support without sharing device activity.
- “I need a routine when I close the app.” Choose one helpful next action and make it easy to reach. Explore Nafs’s Muslim app-blocking and worship routine, then use a tracker or worksheet only if reviewing it helps you.
Choose the smallest setup that addresses your real gap. Review whether it covers the places you use your phone, respects your privacy choices and supports a next action you can actually repeat.
Put a barrier between the urge and the next tap.
Use Nafs to block selected trigger apps and redirect the interruption into Quran, dhikr, dua, or salah. Pair it with device-level filtering and accountability for broader adult-content protection.
Set up Nafs for your trigger appsNafs supports habit change; it is not treatment, and website coverage varies by platform, browser, permissions, and current app release.
