Terms of Service

1. Welcome

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Nafs, including the app, website, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), provided by Nafs ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who Can Use Nafs

You must be at least 13 years old to use Nafs. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
• Notify us immediately at support@getnafs.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
• One account per person. Account sharing is not permitted.

4. Free Tier and Premium Subscriptions

Nafs offers a free tier with core ibadah features and a Premium subscription that unlocks advanced features. Premium plans are billed via your platform's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). Pricing, including any launch sale, is shown at checkout and on our pricing page.

Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial ends. You can cancel any time during the trial.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel via your device's subscription settings — not through Nafs.

Refunds. Refund requests are handled by the app store you purchased through (Apple or Google). We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds outside their policies.

Lifetime plan. The Lifetime plan grants Premium access for as long as the Service exists. It is not transferable and not refundable after 14 days from purchase.

5. Your Content

The Service lets you create personal content, including dua journal entries and worship logs ("Your Content"). Your Content is yours. You retain all rights to it.

Your dua journal is end-to-end encrypted on your device. We cannot read it. We do not sell, license, or share Your Content with third parties.

You are responsible for backups of Your Content. We are not liable for loss of data due to device failure, account issues, or app uninstall.

6. Theological Content

Nafs provides Quran text, translations, hadith, adhkar, duas, and related Islamic content ("Theological Content"). This content is reviewed by qualified Muslim scholars and sourced from trusted classical references.

However, Nafs is not a substitute for direct study with a qualified scholar. We do not issue fatwas. For matters requiring a fatwa or specific religious ruling, please consult a qualified scholar in your tradition.

If you find any error in our Theological Content, please email scholars@getnafs.com. We will review and correct as needed.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app.
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm anyone.
• Attempt to bypass paywalls, app blocks, or other restrictions.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service.
• Resell or redistribute the Service or its content.
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others.

Violations may result in account termination without refund.

8. Hasanat System

The hasanat system is a feature of Nafs that lets you earn in-app currency through worship and spend it to unlock blocked apps. Hasanat are an in-app counter only. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, gifts, or other goods, and are not transferable between accounts.

We may adjust hasanat earn rates and exchange rates over time, in consultation with our Islamic content advisor.

9. App Blocking

Nafs uses your device's Screen Time / Digital Wellbeing APIs to block apps you choose. You consent to this when you enable the feature. You can disable blocking at any time through your device settings.

We are not responsible for missed messages, calls, or events that occur while blocking is active. The emergency unlock feature is provided for urgent access.

10. Intellectual Property

Nafs and its design, code, content (other than Theological Content from public domain sources), and trademarks are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or distribute these without our written permission.

Quran text and authenticated hadith are public domain religious texts. Our translations and curated reflections are licensed for personal use only.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties about uptime, accuracy of all features, or compatibility with all devices.

Nafs is a tool to support your ibadah and digital habits. It does not replace medical, mental health, or religious advice. If you are struggling with addiction or mental health, please seek qualified professional help.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nafs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Termination

You can stop using Nafs at any time. Delete your account in app settings or email us at support@getnafs.com.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.

Upon termination, your access ends immediately. Locally-stored data (including encrypted dua journal) remains on your device unless you delete the app.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Nafs is registered. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any rights you have under your local consumer protection laws.
